Corporate and Commercial Law Center

The Center for Corporate and Commercial Law is located at the Law School, whose goal is to support business-legal relations based on the equality of investors. The Center promotes educational, research and consulting activities in corporate, commercial, corporate governance and securities market law.

The general goals of the Center are:

  • Research of the norms of corporate, commercial, corporate governance and securities market law and development of recommendations for their improvement;
  • Assessment of the impact of changes in the legislation regulating corporate, commercial, corporate governance and securities market law and analysis of the benefits and costs;
  • Study and analysis of problematic issues and court decisions in corporate, commercial, corporate governance and securities market law;
  • Comparative legal analysis of corporate, commercial, corporate governance and securities market law norms and decisions in the US and European countries;
  • Promoting the harmonization of Georgian corporate, commercial, corporate governance and securities market law norms with EU directives based on the obligations assumed under the Association Agreement;
  • Promoting the introduction of innovations in the field of Georgian corporate, commercial, corporate governance and securities market law;
  • Close cooperation with leading European and American scientific centers, implementation of joint research and educational projects, promotion of the introduction of modern research methods;
  • Support for openness and transparency in corporations, promoting shareholder equality and developing the securities market.

Unlike other research and educational institutions, the Center for Corporate and Commercial Law also carries out activities in the consulting direction, especially in projects that concern regulatory impact assessment, which is a novelty and a rare service area in the Georgian market.
